1. Explore the beautiful grounds of Christ Church St Simons Island
Christ Church Frederica on St Simons Island in Georgia is a popular tourist destination on Georgia’s Gold Coast.
The history of Fort Frederica dates back to mid-17th century when General James Oglethorpe laid a cornerstone. Rev. The Christ Church that you see today was constructed in 1884. Anson Phelps, Jr. built the Christ Church in 1884 to honor his wife. This is romantic in a sad way.
The grounds of Christ Church on St Simons Island, Georgia are stunning — with stately oaks draped with Spanish moss and azaleas blooming in the spring, as well as gardens throughout the year — it’s a peaceful, romantic place to stroll.
Christ Church St Simons Island opens from sunrise until sunset on Tuesdays through Sundays. It is closed Mondays. The grounds are free to enter. The public can take guided tours of Christ Church on St Simons Island from Tuesday to Sunday, 2:00pm-5:00pm.

St Simons Island does not have any private beachs. However, the three main access points to the beaches are Massingale Park Beach (also known as Coast Guard Station Beach), Goulds Inlet and Massingale Park Beach.
- Massingale Park Beach, the most popular on St Simons Island with its picnic area, bathhouse and lifeguards on duty in summer, is the beach that everyone wants to be at. No glass containers are allowed on the beach. Parking is permitted, as well as drinking.
- Coast Guard Station Beach has also a bathhouse and summer lifeguards. Drinking is permitted, but no glass containers.
- Goulds Inlet is a fishing port, but it doesn’t have the same romantic feel.

3. Candlelight dinners are romantic.

The King and Prince Resort has a lot of great resorts, including Echo.
The only oceanfront restaurant in the island is Echo. The food is as good as the ambiance. The food is a southern American classic, with a modern twist. It’s not fussy but suitable for a candlelight meal for two.
Another one of my favorite romantic restaurant in St Simons Island, Georgia Sea Grill is another one of my favorites.
The Georgia Sea Grill Menu is based on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, including a lot of their own produce.
The food at Echo is excellent and the atmosphere is ideal for a romantic St. Simons Island getaway.

Tramici Neighborhood Italian is another great restaurant for a romantic evening on St Simons Island.
Tramici is located at 75 Cinema Lane. Tramici’s patio is a great place to enjoy a romantic dinner, especially in the spring and fall.
4. St Simons Island by bike
Explore St Simons by bike. There are miles of trails that wind through the island, under the live oak trees along the beaches.

You can rent bikes for the day and explore the island, including the “tree spirit” or head to St. Simons Island Pier in Pier Village is a great place to grab a picnic from one of the nearby shops.
Renting a bike in St. Simons Island allows you to explore the hidden places — those romantic spots that are not visible from a car.
4. Sail away with a sunset cruise
Sunsets on St Simons Island are romantic, as you already know.
Consider a sunset cruise with Cap Fendig and his crew if you agree!
Sunset Tours are offered between February and November, departing an hour before sunset. You will see sunsets and twilights around St Simons Island. As you “sail”, you can expect to see dolphins and wildlife, including birds.
Even bubbly is allowed on this sunset cruise, so bring a picnic to enjoy while the sun slowly slips away during your romantic getaway on St. Simons Island!
5. Climb the lighthouse to the top

The view from atop a lighthouse is nostalgic and thrilling. Perhaps we can thank Nicholas Sparks? A small garden is located behind the lighthouse, where couples can enjoy the view.
